Dear Stella,

Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful and deeply personal story. It’s truly moving to hear that your great-grandfather, Father Nicholas Costandas, once preached at the Church of St. Nicholas in Fener more than a century ago. Unfortunately, there isn’t any publicly available record I’m aware of regarding clergy archives or burials within the church grounds, as the building belongs to the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate and access to historical records is quite limited.

However, if you wish to inquire further, you may contact the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Fener — their archives or clergy office may have information about former priests who served in the area. I truly hope your search leads you to more details about your family’s remarkable past.

Warm regards,

This is the church where my Great- Grandfather preached over 100 years ago. His name was Father Nicholas Costandas and, according to my mother, was buried the churches' grounds. Would you know if there is any information about my Grandfather? Or, is there a person I can speak to regarding this information?
Thank you for your time.

Yours,
Stella Stamatopoulos
